Mudbugs Rally to Victory

Nov 22, 2017

The Shreveport Mudbugs (15-4-1-1) rallied in the third with goals from their top stars to lift the team to a dramatic 2-1 victory over the Lone Star Brahmas on the eve of Thanksgiving.
Lone Star scored the game’s only goal of the 1st period from Trevor Zenas to give the Brahmas a 1-0 lead after 1.
There was no scoring in the 2nd period, but both teams had their chances on their respective PP’s. SOG favored the Bugs 12-11 after 2.
The Mudbugs would find their footing in the 3rd period when Kieran Durgan tipped home a shot from Andrew Lane from the point to tie the game up at 1 at the 2:26 mark. Jack Clement would get the secondary helper on Durgan’s powerplay goal. Shreveport would feed off that game-tying goal and draw another penalty and take advantage yet again on the man advantage. Captain Dominick Procopio would roof his 2nd goal of the year assisted by Brendan Gysbers and Cameron Cook at 8:37 of the period which would end up being the game-winner.
Gustavs Grigals made 17 saves including some big late stops in the third period to preserve the win for the Bugs.
Shreveport is now 5-0-1 in their last six games.

The Mudbugs will return to action on Black Friday as they’ll be in Topeka, KS to take on the Roadrunners. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05pm.
