Mudbugs Fall to Brahmas in Game 3

The Shreveport Mudbugs battled hard, but fell to the Lone Star Brahmas, 2-1 in OT extending this South Divisional Final to game 4 tomorrow night.

The Mudbugs and Brahmas traded good scoring chances in the opening period, but both Jaxon Castor and Mitchell Gibson made nice saves to keep the game scoreless after 1. Bugs led in SOG, 9-8.

Shreveport broke their streak of not scoring a goal in Lone Star at over 226 minutes when Ryan Burnett popped in his third goal of the playoffs in the slot giving the Bugs the 1-0 edge at 5:18 of the 2nd. The Brahmas responded at 11:44 when Kimball Johnson shot in his first goal of the playoffs on a perfect pass play attack. The game stayed tied 1-1 after two periods of play. Brahmas led in SOG, 19-15.
Both teams traded chances in the 3rd period, but neither scored sending the game to sudden death OT tied 1-1.
At 6:38 of the extra session, Aidan Spellacy shot in the game-winning goal from the right wing circle to lift the Brahmas over the Mudbugs, 2-1.
Jaxon Castor made 32 saves in a tough luck loss.
The Mudbugs and Brahmas will square off in game 4 back at the Nytex Sports Centre. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30pm.
