Mudbugs complete three-win weekend

The Shreveport Mudbugs completed a successful weekend with the third consecutive win of the weekend and fifth consecutive overall with a 4-1 win over Topeka on Sunday.Erik Zohovs led the Mudbugs attack with a pair of goals. Shreveport also got goals from Frankie Melton and Kieran Durgan. Melton gave the Bugs a 1-0 lead in the first period as he scored his 12th of the season off an assist from Croix Evingston, a recent UMass-Lowell commitment. Topeka tied the score just before the end of the period on Alex Frye’s fifth goal of the season. It was the last, and only, goal Topeka would score against Shreveport netminder Dylan Lubbesmeyer. He had 29 saves in 30 shots on Sunday. The Mudbugs took the lead for the duration on Zohovs’ first goal of the day and sixth of the season. His goal came after an assist from Cameron Cook. Later in the period, Durgan scored his fifth of the season following an assist from Andrew Lane. Zohovs closed out the scoring in the third period, with his seventh goal of the season.
