Sep 4, 2017

The Shreveport Mudbugs got strong goaltending and timely goals to help shutout the Topeka Roadrunners, 3-0 and stay perfect on the preseason schedule.

The Mudbugs broke a scoreless game early in the first period when Jack Clement went top shelf for his first goal of the preseason. The goal was unassisted at the 6:30 mark of the opening period to put the Bugs up 1-0.

Shreveport added to their lead when Jack Hatton went coast to coast and set up Nikolai Jenson for an easy slam in tally at the 12:07 mark of the 1st period to increase the Bugs lead to 2-0.

Hatton was back again in the second period when he backhanded home his first goal of the preseason early in the 2nd period to give Shreveport a 3-0 edge.

The Mudbugs kept Topeka off the scoreboard for the remainder of the game as Latvian goalie Gustavs Grigals posted the shutout in nets for Shreveport.

The Bugs go to 3-0 on the preseason and will be back in action this Friday night in Corpus Christi to take on the Ice Rays with the puck drop scheduled for 7pm
