The Shreveport Mudbugs erased an early deficit with a 3rd period tally from Ryan Burnett to help push the Bugs past the Corpus Christi Ice Rays, 2-1 to win game 5 and advance to the South Division Finals for the first time in their NAHL era.

The Ice Rays struck first blood at 19:18 of the 1st period when the puck changed direction in front of the net and was put it in

from Larry Jungwirth to give Corpus Christi the early 1-0 lead after one period of play. Mudbugs led in SOG, 13-9 at this point.

Shreveport responded early in the 2nd period when Cam Cook banged away at the puck in front of the net and on his third try, slipped it past Chad Veltri to tie the game up at 1. The goal occurred at 3:23 of the 2nd period and was assisted by Matt Weber and Brendon Gysbers. The Bugs out-shot the Ice Rays, 35-16 after two periods of play.
