Jackalopes Bite the Bugs

The Shreveport Mudbugs (41-11-3-4) fell short to the Odessa Jackalopes, 3-2 Friday night at Ector County Coliseum in Odessa, TX.
Shreveport scored first in the first when Matt Weber was in front of the net to poke in his first goal as a Mudbug just 3:51 into the game. Brendan VanSweden got the only assist on the goal. Odessa answered back with a tally tying the game up at 1 after one period of play.
The Mudbugs who were trailing 2-1 late in the 2nd period found the equalizer with perseverance from Weber who was able to punch in a juicy rebound in front of the net for his second goal of the night at 17:43 of the middle frame. The game stayed tied 2-2 after two periods of play.
The difference in the game occurred early in the third period when Peyton Frantti put an innocent from the right circle that beat Jaxon Castor for his 16th tally of the season just 1:19 into the 3rd period. Shreveport out-shot Odessa, 31-29 but couldn’t find the tying goal in the last minutes of the period.
The Mudbugs are still 9-1-1 this season against the Jacks .

The Mudbugs conclude their two-game set with the Jacks and 2017-2018 regular season campaign tomorrow night at the Ector County Coliseum. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05pm. ​
