BUGS WIN TWO IN A ROW AT SHOWCASE

Sep 21, 2017

The Shreveport Mudbugs continue their hot ways with timely goals and great goaltending to squeeze out a 2-1 victory over the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights in the NAHL Showcase.

Trailing 1-0 in the 2nd period, the Bugs responded with a furious rally late in the period.

Jack Jaunich continued his great showcase as he worked the puck down low in the offensive zone and made a perfect cross ice pass for Jordan Fader to bury for his 2nd goal in as many games. The goal tied the game up at 1 at the 14:57 mark of the 2nd.

Shreveport fed off their energy from the Fader tally as Gino Carabelli drew a late period interference penalty giving the Mudbugs a powerplay opportunity.

The Bugs took advantage as Cole Quisenberry wristed home a goal from a tough angle along the far side of the rink to give Shreveport a 2-1 at the 18:52 mark of the 2nd. Quisenberry’s goal was assisted by Brendan Gysbers and Cameron Cook.

The score stayed the same after the third period was complete. Gustavs Grigals made 21 saves in the cage to help lead the Bugs to a 2-1 victory.

Shreveport has now won three straight games overall and are 2-0 in the showcase.

The Mudbugs will take on the Springfield Jr. Blues tomorrow night with the puck drop scheduled for 8:30pm.
