BUGS WIN 4TH IN A ROW

The Shreveport Mudbugs (4-1) scored early and late and got solid goaltending once again to help shutout the Springfield Jr. Blues, 4-0 Friday night at Schwan Super Rink in Blaine, Minnesota.

The Mudbugs struck first blood in the first period as the new kid Ryan Burnett was in the right place at the right time to score a power play goal at the 13:23 mark. The goal was assisted by Roberts Baranovskis and Jack Clement. Shreveport added another PP goal from Burnett with a hot shot from the slot assisted by Jack Jaunich at 19:24.

Shreveport led 2-0 after one period of play.

The 2nd period was hard-hitting and the Blues put a push on, but James Durham was sharp between the pipes keeping them off the scoreboard. Bugs led 2-0 after 2.

Shreveport poured it on in the third period when Gino Carabelli jammed home a goal for his first of the season assisted by Jordan Fader and Jack Jaunich at 6:57. The Bugs led 3-0 when Roberts Baranovskis fired home a beauty for his first of the season at 12:50 putting the Bugs up 4-0 late in the game. Jack Jaunich picked up his third assist on the night on the goal scored from Baranovskis.

The night belonged to James Durham as the young man from Grand Rapids, Michigan made 20 saves in his regular season debut to earn his first shutout of the year!

The Mudbugs have now won four straight and improve to 3-0 in the showcase.

Shreveport is back in action for the final game of the showcase tomorrow afternoon as they’ll take on the Brookings Blizzard. Puck drop is scheduled for 3pm. ​
