Nov 18, 2017

The Shreveport Mudbugs (14-4-1) shutout the Odessa Jackalopes, 5-0 in front of a raucous crowd Saturday night at Georges Pond in Hirsch Coliseum.
After a scoreless first period, the Mudbugs exploded in the 2nd period. It all started when Jack Clement rifled home his fifth goal of the year from the point at 5:53 of the period. The Bugs led 1-0 and the Mudbugs got their powerplay going strong when Cam Cook slipped home his 7th goal of the year in front of the cage putting Shreveport up 2-0 at the 8:19 mark of the period. Jake Transit buried home his fourth tally in front just 30 seconds later after Cook’s goal to give the Bugs a 3-0 edge. Shreveport would put the icing on the cake in the 2nd period when Kieran redirected his 6th goal of the year at 10:15 of the period making it a 4-0 advantage after two periods for the Bugs.
The Mudbugs added one goal for good measure in the third period as Cam Cook banged in his second of the night to cap a 5-0 victory over the Jackalopes.
James Durham was stellar in net picking up his third shutout of the year.
Shreveport is now 12-2-2 all-time against Odessa.

The South leading Mudbugs will be back in action this Wednesday night for a Thanksgiving Eve Divisional showdown against the Lone Star Brahmas. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30pm from the Nytex Sports Center in North Richland Hills, TX.
