BUGS SWEEP ROADRUNNERS

The Shreveport Mudbugs (26-5-3-2) were led by a pair of goals by Cam Cook an timely saves from Gustavs Grigals to top the Topeka Roadrunners, 3-1 Saturday night at Georges Pond in Hirsch Coliseum.

Cam Cook continued his hot ways as he drilled home his 13th goal of the season from the right wing circle at 17:14 to put Shreveport up 1-0 after one period of play. Jack Clement got the only assist on Cooks tally.

After Topeka tied the game at 1, Cam Cook answered the bell 35 seconds later as he banged in his 2nd goal of the night from the far circle to put the Mudbugs up again at 2-1. Jacob Skolnik got the only assist on the goal.

The Mudbugs would put the icing on the cake at 18:40 of the 3rd when Jordan Fader slammed in an empty netter for his 10th tally of the season. Brendan VanSweden grabbed the assist on Fader’s goal.

Gustavs Grigals picked up his 12th win in net.

Shreveport improves to 7-0-1 in their last 8 games played.

The Mudbugs will travel to Corpus Christi next weekend to take on the Ice Rays for a two-game set beginning next Friday at the American Bank Center. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05pm.
