BUGS SWEEP ODESSA

The Shreveport Mudbugs (8-2) came from behind in the 3rd period and topped the Odessa Jackalopes, 3-2 in the shootout sweeping the series in Odessa.
After a scoreless first period, the Jacks broke that with goals from Noah Poindexter and 6:10 and Peyton Frantti and 14:58 of the 2nd period to give Odessa a 2-0 lead.
The Bugs rallied back in the 3rd period when Jack Clement fired home his 2nd goal from the point cutting the deficit to 2-1 at the 5:54 mark of the period. Jordan Fader and Brenden VanSweden got the assists on the tally. Four minutes later, Cole Quisenberry was able to tip home the game-tying goal assisted by Clement at 9:22 of the period.
Gustavs Grigals was terrific in nets with 32 saves on the night including some highlight-reel glove grabs in OT to keep the game tied and send the game into a shootout.
Zach Faremouth and Jake Transit scored in the shootout which led the Bugs to a 3-2 win over the Jacks.
Shreveport improves to 8-2 overall and sit atop the South Division with 16 points on the season.

The Mudbugs will return to Georges Pond at Hirsch Coliseum for the first time in nearly a month to take on last year’s playoff foe in the Corpus Christi IceRays beginning next Friday night, Oct. 13th. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:11pm. ​
