Sep 21, 2017

The Shreveport Mudbugs got a big night from their big players to skate away with a 3-1 victory over the Minot Minotauros in their opening contest of the 2017 NAHL Showcase at Super Schwan Rink in Blaine, Minnesota.

Trailing 1-0 in the 2nd period, the Mudbugs finally scored their first goal of the season when Cam Cook deflected home a perfect feed from Urho Lensu on the powerplay tying the game up at 1. Andrew Lane got the secondary assist on the goal.

The score was tied at 1 after two periods of play.
The 3rd period started off wonderfully for Shreveport as Jacob Holmers did great work down low to set up a brilliant pass to Jordan Fader in the slot as the man knows as “Darth Fader” buried home his first goal of the year and the Bugs went ahead 2-1 at the 2:30 mark.
Cam Cook fired a perfect shot into the empty net for his 2nd goal of the night to help the Mudbugs seal a 3-1 win over Minot. Holmers got the only assist on the empty-netter.
Jacob Holmers was stellar tonight with two assists in the game.
Gustavs Grigals gets the win in nets as he was masterful in the cage one again for the Shreveport.
The Mudbugs return to action tomorrow morning as they’ll continue their 2017 NAHL Showcase as they’ll take on the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights. Puck drop is scheduled for 11:30am.
