Bugs End Ice Dogs Winning Streak

The Shreveport Mudbugs, (36-8-3-2) power past the Fairbanks Ice Dogs, 2-1 in the shootout ending their win streak at 24 games Saturday night inside a packed house at Georges Pond in Hirsch Coliseum.

Fairbanks got the scoring open as Jack Johnston wristed in a tricky shot for his 14th goal of the year at 18:27 of the opening period. Ice Dogs led 1-0 after one period of play.

The scored stayed that way until Cole Quisenberry powered a puck in for his 14th goal of the year just 57 seconds into the third period tying the game at 1.

The game would stay tied at 1 until the seventh round of the shootout when Derek Contessa fired a lazer that beat Logan Neaton for the game-winning goal.

Shreveport beats Fairbanks, 2-1 in the shootout ending their win streak at 24 games.

Jaxon Castor gets the win in net making 29 saves not including all seven stops in the shootout session.

The Mudbugs will have a quick turnaround and be back in action at Lone Star tomorrow afternoon to play the defending Robertson Cup Champion Brahmas at the Nytex Sports Centre.
