Bugs Close Second Game of Playoffs With a Loss

Apr 16, 2017

The Mudbugs got on the board first in the first when Jack Jaunich tipped home a brilliant shot from Dominick Procopio to give Shreveport the early 1-0 lead.

Corpus Christi fired back in the 2nd period with three unanswered goals including two of them in a 34 second span. Kristaps Jakobsons gave the home crowd some life with a powerplay goal to make it a 3-2 Ice Rays lead. Corpus Christi would score a fourth goal late in the 2nd period which prompted Head Coach Karlis Zirnis to pull Dyllan Lubbesmeyer in favor of John Roberts in nets.

Both teams traded goals in the 3rd period as Corpus Christi skated away with a 5-3 victory and a 2-0 lead in the best of five series.

Game 3 will be Wednesday night at the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05pm. Chet Yoder will have the play-by-play starting off the pregame show on The Ticket 100.7FM/1340AM & nahl.fasthockey.com.
