May 5, 2018

The Shreveport Mudbugs fell short to the Lone Star Brahmas in game 4 at the Nytex Sports Centre in North Richland Hills, TX forcing a game 5 back at the George tomorrow night.

The Brahmas scored the game’s first goal for the first time in this series. Owen Farris tipped one in at 9:20 for his 2nd goal of the playoffs giving Lone Star the early 1-0 advantage after one period of play. Lone Star led in SOG, 9-8.

Lone Star added to their lead in the 2nd period when Jon Russell slipped one past Jaxon Castor from the far side for his first goal of the postseason giving the Brahmas a 2-0 edge. The goal prompted HC Karlis Zirnis to pull Castor in favor of goalie Gustavs Grigals who made his first appearance in this series. At the end of the period, Karlis Zirnis lashed out at the officials and got ejected from the game.
The Brahmas scored a PP goal to open up the 3rd period when Ture Linden netted his first goal of the playoffs giving Lone Star a 3-0 lead. Brendan VanSweden powered in his first goal of the playoffs with a shot from the point to give the Mudbugs some life late in the 3rd period with 5:24 left. The goal was the only blemish on Mitchell Gibson’s night in the cage.
The home team has won all the games in this series so far.
The Mudbugs and Brahmas now square off in a winner-take-all game 5 back at Georges Pond in Hirsch Coliseum. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:11pm.
