The Shreveport Mudbugs (33-7-3-2) fell to the Lone Star Brahmas, 2-0 on Presidents Day at the Nytex Sports Centre.
After a scoreless first period, the Lone Star broke snapped the Mudbugs streak of not allowing a goal in 231 minutes of play in the 2nd when Jakub Sirota tipped home his third goal of the year at 7:27. The Brahmas added a goal later in the 2nd to lead Shreveport, 2-0 after two periods of play.
The Mudbugs couldn’t get much going offensively in the third period as the Brahmas outshot them, 26-12 at the end of the game.
Gustavs Grigals was great in net making 24 saves in a tough luck loss.
The loss snaps Shreveport’s six-game winning streak.
The Mudbugs return home this Friday night to take on the Kenai River Brown Bears for a two-game set. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:11pm for both Friday and Saturday at Georges Pond in Hirsch Coliseum.
