#5 Evingson Drafted to Winnipeg Jets

Shreveport Mudbugs and 2016 NAHL Defenseman of the Year #5 Croix Evingson has been drafted by the Winnipeg Jets in Round 7 of the NHL Draft. He is the first Mudbugs player in franchise history to be drafted after playing in Shreveport.

The 6-foot-5, 209-pound Alaska native captured Defenseman of the Year honors in the North American Hockey League for the 2016-17 season. He led all blue-liners with 52 points (12 goals, 40 assists).

Evingson is committed to play college hockey at the University of Massachusetts-Lowell.

Croix stands 6’5” and weighs 210 pounds making him another one of the Jets big picks. During his draft year in the NAHL he put up four points including one goal in 38 games. He improved that to 52 points in 59 games this year.

The Mudbugs recently completed their first season in the NAHL, a Tier-II junior league. Jets’ development camp begins on Monday June 26th at Bell MTS Iceplex in Winnipeg, MB.
